Death and the Ice Box

Ogeechee, Georgia, police officer Trudy Roundtree confronts murder from the past when the body of a young woman is found stuffed inside an abandoned icebox. Forensics reveal death came from a blow to the skull, but the victim had been inside the appliance for thirty-odd years. With few clues and little physical evidence, Trudy digs into the friendly small town's past to identify the woman, and maybe, her killer.

Old newspaper clippings link the automobile death of a young man to the victim, and soon dental records give a name to the woman in the icebox--she was the dead man's fiancee, last seen alive at her wedding shower. Trudy strips away the layers of folksy veneer from a few longtime locals to find the dark truth behind a curtain of jealousy and lies as old as the crime itself. Recreating a plotline for murder, Trudy discovers the stunning motive--and a waiting killer.
