When chef Jenny Starling travels to Oxford to cater a taxidermist convention, she expects a duller-thandishwater crowd of non-foodies. But within the university's hallowed halls a devious crime is being plotted that will leave one of their members as lifeless as the stuffed owl mounted on the wall of ancient St. Bede's College.

Conference chairman Maurice Raines is no longer chasing anything in skirts. He's lying under a table in the dining hall, his black leather shoes sticking out at an unseemly angle, a deadly blade impaled in his neck. Who bumped off the taxidermy bigwig? His cheating wife? Her handsome young lover? The list goes on.
