About This Book

A seemingly normal day at the OakRidge police precinct turns detective Matt Mandias’ life inside out. He receives an anonymous letter questioning whether his parents’ automobile accident nineteen years before was truly an accident. This leads him to confront his past and seek the truth.
As Matt begins to investigate his parents’ deaths, a police investigation begins into his activities. Captain Adam Phelps, Matt’s adoptive father, has acquired evidence that Matt works for Ramon Carondia, a ruthless businessman who will stop at nothing, not even murder, to obtain what he wants. Matt believes that he is being targeted because his father, Joseph Mandias, worked for Carondia as a chauffer. Suspended from the police force, Matt feels a bond with his father and decides to clear his and his father’s name.
Believing it is harmless, Matt delves into his parents’ past only to discover that there is someone who wants the past to stay in the past. As he tries to find the truth about the accident, he discovers that an assistant district attorney, who was gathering evidence against Carondia, died a brutal death twenty years ago. This leads him on a search for the evidence that he feels will exonerate both his name and his father’s. The only thing in his way is the murderer, who seems to know what Matt is going to do before he does. With the police looking for him, Matt races to find the truth. The realization of who killed his parents and why leads Matt to question every relationship in his life and how his life unknown to him revolved around evidence that an assistant district attorney gathered twenty years before. He has to gather all his strength to face the man who murdered his parents and finally come to terms with their death.
