Hundreds of innocents on a flight over Washington, DC are facing certain death. Terrorist who control the jetliner will sacrifice them to change the world and access new weapons of mass destruction.

This is not 9/11.

Black wizards are in control of the doomed jet and the deaths of the passengers will cause the Ancient Gods to bring Magic back to the United States of America. Now, living nightmares stalk the streets, the police, and even the military are helpless, and the government's massive computer systems are alive and out of control.

In Washington, Magic changes the powerful to match their deepest beliefs: GOP Dwarves are digging in with pickaxes over the Gold Standard, Liberal Elves talk to trees while dragons lurk in the darkest corridors of power. 

America's forlorn hope is Steve Rowan, a cynical reporter who doesn't believe in much of anything but certainly not magic. Nevertheless, he's been drafted to lead the battle against these occult terrorists because he's the Last American Wizard. 

He is aided by Barnaby, the first program ever run by the NSA, the ghost of a young Chinese factory worker he finds trapped inside his smartphone, and the indomitable Ace Morningstar--the only woman to qualify and serve as a Navy SEAL.
