About This Book

Dark Star presents a complex murder mystery about a group of people who will do anything to reach the top in Los Angeles. With a shady lawyer, an ambitious actress, a determined police detective, and other colorful individuals, the narrative moves among the rich, famous and those operating in the underground of America's film capital. Jean LeClerc is an entertainment lawyer in Hollywood who has taken on a "second-rate substandard mediocre actress" as a client. The starlet—Mellissa Young—becomes "Hollywood's most blogged actor" and has been trouble for LeClerc since the beginning. When LeClerc gives Mellissa a contract, Mellissa's mother snatches it from her hands and exits his office rudely. Mellissa becomes a bigger and more flamboyant Hollywood personality, her mother is murdered, and many suspicions surround her demise. Detective Gavin enters the picture, and he asks her a number of difficult questions about her mother. As Gavin continues to pressure Mellissa, LeClerc protests and exclaims that his client is not a "psycho." The story takes a very dark turn as more people involved with Mellissa are sucked into her vortex.
