The intrepid Queenie lands an unbelievably plum assignment for a beginning screenwriter: to doctor a script by one of the masters of the business, Digs Patterson.
As volatile tempers clash on the set and local anti-foreigner sentiment bubbles, the producer reveals to Q that he hired her as much for her renowned investigative skills as for her screenwriting prowess. Now she must quietly locate Digs and finish the script, with tyrannical investors watching her every move. While researching the historical events of the drama, Q finds that Digs's disappearance only touches the surface of the mystery: She must uncover a betrayal of the past to find the truth in the present. But is the threat from a ghost or from a very real member of the cast and crew? A budding relationship with the film's handsome but suspicious star puts Q in the dangerous position of losing her heart - and maybe her life.
