Just as Alex is finding her place with Ealythia and learning more about herself with the help of Jaze, the Council sends him away to Santara on a dangerous mission. As Alex struggles to find a way to train without notifying the Council, she learns more about her past, and her strange connection with Jaze. Meanwhile, Jaze is in grave danger, the king’s death threat still looming over his head. Desperate to keep Alex safe behind the veil of Ealythia, Jaze begins blocking his thoughts from Alex’s mind, creating a void between them that threatens their relationship.
