After starting a new chapter of his life in the small town of Middleton, Maine, Shaker Madison finds himself in the midst of a tangled web of deceit, international conspiracies, and danger. He will have to rely on his K-9 partner, Barrett, to get out of this case alive!
At first, it seems like an open-and-shut case. Middleton resident Charlie Smith murders the local bank’s vice president in the middle of a failed robbery, and in the resulting shootout, he is killed. But as Madison digs into Charlie’s past, he realizes this wasn’t simply a heist gone wrong. Charlie knew a terrible event was going to happen that would change the United States forever.
Why does Charlie have so many pictures of President Kennedy in his house? What’s with the huge cache of weapons? Days later, when the president is assassinated in Dallas, Madison has a horrible feeling that it’s all connected to his case.
As the investigation continues, Madison must also adjust to his new human partner (and ex-lover), Donna Lewis, and navigate a budding relationship with his current girlfriend. Through it all, Barrett is always there to lend a paw and track down the next surprising lead!
