Actress Liza Drew was loved by everyone--friends, family, her lover, Paul, and her oldest friend Millie Hale who has the horrible luck to discover Liza's mutilated corpse.

Ironically, upon Liza's death, Millie's and Paul's careers take center stage. Millie finds herself accepting the great parts Liza had been offered, the attention from the press, the accolades.

There are, unfortunately, too few clues to Liza's untimely death, thus challenging Inspector John Bright to solve a nearly perfect crime. Who killed Liza? A deranged fan? Her lover? Her jealous mother? Her best friend? Then Bright discovers there's more than one way to upstage a clever killer....
