Achak had always competed with his twin brother, Manchaug, from the moment they had left the womb. The forests and meadows of Sutton, Massachusetts had been their field of combat. But since Achak had fallen in love with Olathe, the tone of the challenges had darkened. No longer was it simply skill with the bow or tomahawk. Their annual canoe challenge had taken on more sinister shadows.
