Check Mate

Set in the far distant future, President Aldrich struggles to maintain control of what little is left of the United States after World War III decimates most of the country. Through a cruel dictatorship, he and his brother produce "Check Mate," a show that rewards contestants for completing the ultimate crime of murder. Among their worries is a group of plotters who are determined to bring the government down. As leader of the plotters, Darren wonders if he can keep the girl he loves safe, or if Maria will become another casualty under Aldrich's regime. Knowing they must add numbers to their group to have any chance at all, will the plotters be okay with the newcomers' methods or will their violent ways make them just as bad as Aldrich? In a township with growing hatred for the High Council, the plotters may get more help than they expect.
