On a nostalgic visit to the docksides of his youth, Steve, a quiet, unassuming import/export agent, enters a quaint gaslit pub...and steps into another universe--one of the rare, secret places out of time where parallel worlds meet-- where buccaneers, demigods and mythic heroes mingle...and bizarre visions seem unnervingly real. A realm of dreams, of wonder, of terrible beasts in pirate garb, it spills across the boundaries of the mundane to invade Steve's reality--impelling an ordinary man toward an extraordinary destiny...leaving him no choice but to hire a ship and a crew and to sail off into the sky to do battle with the dread forces of darkness.
