Freelance Boston journalist Theda Krakow, suffering from both money and man troubles, welcomes a cheesy but paying assignment to spotlight prominent women in the area. She's happy to be able to include a couple of her friends, such as a talented blues singer named Cool, and Theda's favorite cat lady, an eccentric breeder of Turkish Angoras, Rose Keller. Things get interesting when Cool confesses a dirty secret: she is being blackmailed. And Rose has a crisis of her own--someone is stealing her prized felines.

Rose's cats aren't the only ones missing--apparently a ring of thieves is hitting the elite catteries of Boston. But poor Rose is the only one receiving threats. And when Theda finds Rose's lifeless body, she fears the stakes are more than just catnapping--and that a trap is closing in on her as well.
