The Volcano City

Karakto, home of the Morehl--the mad, corrupted lava elves. Decades ago, the forces of good conquered this evil city. The occupying forces of the Selumari, the coral elves, now live in an uneasy truce with their hated enemies.

Can the Morehl be redeemed? Calantha, the city's governor, adopted a Morehl infant to prove that nurture can overcome nature. But the child. Orric, has grown into a capricious rogue, brilliant and witty but prone to dangerous rages.

The tension ill Karakto grows. Armies move at night, and deranged nobles speak of rebellion. A mysterious light floats through blackened streets, whispering of danger.

The lava elves look to Orric to lead them, but Calantha holds to her faith in her adopted son. Whom will Orric choose? Can lie find a way through the world's madness, and his own? To find out requires a momentous Cast of Fate.
