Caruso File, The

Paul Caruso, a college freshman, is shot to death in his parents' house in Washington D.C., on the Saturday after Christmas, by an emotionally distraught female. Is the killer Paul's ex-girlfriend? Or did her mother or one of his high school teachers pull the trigger? Was Paul even the intended victim? Was the murderer really after his father, Anthony Caruso? Nick Mercante and his wife Kathy Stilmore join the investigation of a dedicated team of Metropolitan police detectives, led by Lieutenant Frank Stephens, his partner Sergeant Sam Witkin, and Tawana Briggs, a rookie officer, whose budding romance with Sam is complicated by the race issue.
