Living in Bromington-on-sea and being the only sleuth in the area, brings challenges to Rosie Wodehouse every now and again. All her cases are foretold by deceased, great aunt Dorothea. Just a smidgen, the barest hint of what is to come next. Whatever unravels will undoubtedly involve a clue, the community and people further afield... sometimes. The residents both new and old hide their investigating skills and knowledge until they feel their input might be of help. The hairdressers, librarian, local medium, ex-recluse, police and - well, the list is slowly growing and the colourful characters step up when needed in this latest mystery and the puzzles from past cases. Jack Hargreaves turns up at the Wodehouse Agency with a request for Rosie to find out the truth behind his father's disappearance. What did happen in 1946? How does this relate to the area, people past and present and dangerous operatives in high places. Our young sleuth is about to find out as she agrees to try and help him.
