What would you do to save the one you love? Cal has been conscripted into the army, and Thane has promised to wait. After all, it’s only for a year or two. But Cal volunteers for an elite force of soldiers nicknamed 'The Legion', and Thane is conscripted early to work on a special project led by Captain Jack Marksin, a man she thinks she can trust. As Thane discovers more about Jack’s motives and his intentions towards her, Cal is subject to an experimental virus that eats away at his humanity, turning him into a monster. And he is not the first of the Legion to escape. The rebels hiding under the city want to find a cure. And only Thane can access the data they need to find it. But in the meantime the Legion deserters have found something else that works. Innocent blood - blood like Thane’s. And Cal knows where to find her.
