About This Book

John Babineaux completes his military service, and since re-enlistment guarantees a trip to Viet Nam, he chooses to return to his Cajun home and then realizes his future lies elsewhere. With his lifetime savings, John drives east in search of "elsewhere" and, taking a left turn in Florida, encounters Valdosta, Georgia. Motel clerks recommend The City Grill and it was while having lunch that John Babineaux notices a bulletin board ad in bold letters: "Gopher Wanted." Removing the ad set events in motion, changing his search of that "elsewhere." Seated in the restaurant is Phillip Klein who observes John removing the ad and announces it's he who seeks a "gopher." Babineaux joins the Triple A Detective Agency, and with Phillip as his mentor, learns the business, the Valdosta community, and is encouraged to read previous cases of the agency. John selects an unsolved case, and surprising developments lead them towards possibly solving the case.
