Between an anonymous threatening letter and a death at Thatcher Fine Art, newly hired employee Marjorie Lord (secretary/salesperson) is certain her vicious ex-boyfriend has hired an out-of-state private detective, tracked her down to the little Nevada town, and is out for some serious revenge. But when a struggling painter is about to take the fall for the heinous murder, Al March, former police officer, can’t resist getting involved. Against the advice of his good friend and traveling companion Harry Calle, Al sets out to help the artist, but to his dismay ends up turning over information that further implicates the high-strung man. And before the case is finally laid to rest, Al’s constant interference is responsible for everyoneâ€"from the handyman to the deceased’s wifeâ€"appearing guilty, as outrageous accusations fly amidst the bedlam on this chaotic trip through the art scene.
