About This Book

Archie Balfour is just like every other young boy living in rural England in 1780. His days are spent working long hours in the village corn mill, dreaming of the brief occasions when he is allowed out to play with his best friend, Edward. Unfortunately for Archie, his world is about to be turned upside down. Looking forward to an afternoon playing with his best friend, instead he finds himself witnessing the brutal murder of Mr Harriman, a solitary and rather mysterious villager. Chased home by the murderer, Archie is faced with two options, he can either sit at home and wait for the murderer to strike again – only this time with him as the victim, or he can set about uncovering the identity of the killer, and gather the evidence he needs to convince his father, the village constable, to arrest the murderer and send him to jail. First though, he has to face his own fears and a battle of his conscience before he finally persuades his friend, Edward to accompany him on the adventure of a lifetime. Dead bodies, mystery and adventure abound in this wonderfully exciting new series of adventures as Archie, Edward and their associates find themselves facing murderers, ghosts, thieves and each other in their quest for the truth.
