Angels of the Mud

Angels of the mud is an historic three part thriller that begins in 1907. It follows the life of my main character: Nell Masters. Nell is a pretty sixteen-year old, born midst the slums and grog houses of Portsea; a district of Old Portsmouth. This is a place steeped in naval history and is still the site of one of England's major dockyards. Even as late as the 1970s Portsea harbour was a place where children, when the tide permitted, would MudLark. They would entice travellers on the causeway above them to throw coins, just to watch their muddy antics in trying to retrieve them. Among other characters my story touches on the adventures of four such children while following Nell Masters diverse and event filled life; a life in which grief, murder, rape, and romance all play a part. Yes, fate is a fickle companion throughout Nell's varied and event filled life, and living through two world wars is not even the worst of the hardships fate has in store for her.
