An Offering For Sin

In the middle of busy rush-hour a teenage girl throws herself in front of a train on the London Underground. At first glance it appears to be a clear-cut case of suicide. But as details around the girl emerge, Transport Police detective Rose Williams begins to suspect it might not be as clear-cut as first thought. Jack Sheridan is on indefinite leave from Scotland Yard, living on a friend's futon and estranged from his grandson. Spending his days drinking and floating from one pub to another like a plastic bag on the wind, he meets the peculiar drug smuggler Henry, who tells him about the big payday he's come back to England in order to secure. Newly promoted Home Secretary Derek Murray lives a privileged life used to getting what he wants when he wants it. But doing what you want often comes at a price. And Derek is about to find out just what his is. Three supposedly separate paths lead to one ultimate act of madness in which things that were supposed to remain hidden come crashing into the present with devastating results.
