In her search for the truth Karen gradually begins to realise that without even meaning to, she has hurt some of the people closest to her. As a teenager, she ignited her best friend Charlie's envy by commanding the attention of their male friends. Later, she dropped her fiance, the up-and-coming businessman Leigh Bailie, for the young and gorgeous Grant Roberts, only to part with Grant in a hailstorm of recriminations -- a fact that Grant's sister Belinda has neither forgiven nor forgotten. But which of them hates her enough to commit murder? And will Karen manage to convince others of her suspicions before it is too late?
