About This Book
Carol Valenti’s first view of the Grand Canyon is interrupted when her new acquaintance Mimi Griffin, squeezed her arm in a death grip. Turing to find out what she wanted, Carol saw a man scrambling up the protective fence. In horror, she watched him jump over the edge to his death a thousand feet below accompanied by Mimi’s ear piercing scream.
Hours after his death, Carol notices Red, Mimi’s husband, conversing and arguing with a local cowboy, and later hears that the same cowboy is also now dead, leaving her with many unanswered questions about her new acquaintances.
That evening Carol meets Lex Alan, at a wine trade show held at the Grand Canyon. There is an instant attraction between them, and they soon make plans to ride together on the mule trip down to the Canyon floor, both of them are puzzled by the recent murders.
The next day the group descends into the canyon and meets Dixie Contreras, proprietress of the Ghost Canyon Ranch. Lex and Carol discuss the cowboy’s death with her, but are overheard and reprimanded for gossip by Jackson, the mule train leader and the dead cowboy’s former boss. They are sternly warned to keep their comments to themselves.
The following day Red is murdered at a dinner cookout on the Colorado River, and Mimi becomes a prime suspect. As dangerous incidents continue to occur and more murders pile up, Carol and Lex must find a way to find the killer and clear Mimi of suspicion, before she becomes the next victim at the Grand Canyon.
