A Hometown Chief

Gary Hastings takes us inside North Carolina law enforcement. In this novel, Grant Peterson, returns to his hometown of Clancy after a distinguished career with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation. Soon after returning home, he is approached by the town manager about taking the job as chief of police.Grant accepts the job and soon finds himself running the Clancy Police Department. There are no detectives or investigators in the department, so Grant decides to look at an old case. He re-opens a twenty-five-year-old murder case involving a seventeen-year-old girl that is the only murder case in the town’s history that has never been solved.Grant soon meets resistance from town officials, fellow police officers and other citizens encouraging him to forget his interest in the old case. Grant ignores their attitudes and pursues justice with dedication using his decades of investigative experience.
