Carter Williams and Dylan Kyle are two ordinary 12 year olds that have extraordinary adventures! As amateur detectives, the two boys solve mysteries in their quiet town of East Millersberg, using a combination of wit, determination, and cunning to follow clues to their answers. When Aubrey comes to Dylan and Carter afraid for a friend, the two boys must race against the clock to discover the mystery tormenting a little girl. Can they find the solution to the mystery before the little girl is consumed by fear? Will they be able to wade through truth, lies, and jokes to discover what hides behind a mysterious figure in the fog and tales of a murdered family in their neighborhood?
