A Discordant Death

When murder is in one's blood, one must constantly strive to find balance within the horror. Recently, life has fallen into a lovely, domestic rhythm beyond her dreams, and Mary Bright is looking forward to attending a house party in the country for celebrations surrounding her oldest son's upcoming nuptials to a musically inclined miss. Any time she can spend in her handsome husband's company away from the work they both enjoy is a boon, for life is quite busy and full without much time for the romance that brought them together in the first place. Former Bow Street inspector Gabriel Bright is managing a thriving second career as a consultant to Whitehall and various private clients who offer unsolvable homicide cases. But what he's most proud of is his growing family, so now that his oldest son Henry is about to marry, of course he wants to be a part of that. Additionally, perhaps getting his wife alone and away from responsibilities can further kindle the white-hot sparks between them. Unfortunately, the shocking death of one of the house party members has Mary and Bright taking charge of a murder investigation in lieu of a constable, starting with the groom. The bride-to-be is keeping secrets of her own that might hamper the search for clues as well as the imminent wedding, so the pressure is on to solve the mystery. But when danger threatens their family, the deductive pair redoubles their efforts to lay the case to rest before further damage is done… to them all.
