Through its long history, the Laginate Grimoire has cast strange shadows. Its pages bring forth the most evil and twisted thoughts in men, and for its power people will kill. In Jerusalem, one priest has used Pope Urban II's call for crusaders to his own ends, his sole goal finding the book. One knight stands between him and the insanity he proposes to unleash.

But the Grimoire takes both knight and priest to a land they do not know. In Malosia, just as in Jerusalem, faith fights evil, but in this strange land, evil embraces faith rather than flees from it, and righteous knight Diederic de Wyndt will find that his reward for virtue is no prize at all.
