EXCERPT

Darian lay in bed for a while trying his best to go back to sleep after Jennifer left for work. He couldn't get the picture of Jennifer's face from the dream he had had out of his mind. He could still see the greyness of her eyes as she lay silently next to him, not breathing or moving. Every time he closed his eyes, he saw her staring back at him and he would jolt upright again and look around the room for the shadow.

The dreams that he had experienced in the past seemed to be his consciousness recovering from the shooting, but this one seemed like it was more of a premonition than anything else.

Darian was starting to worry that there was something more to these dreams than he might have thought in the beginning, but there was nothing he could do about it right now. He had to start putting his life together somehow, and that required putting the dreams off for a bit longer.
