      Elaine Slater has just left her abusive chief justice husband of many years. She obtains a position with barrister Henry Flannagan who is opening a new practice after being disbarred. There is immediate chemistry, later consumated. Henry takes a client, abused in prison. The client is later killed - wife becomes the plaintiff. The trial and a plot to kill Henry.
