"It's a sure bet," Jane whispered, "that Kilmer's grandmother is some kind of a monster."

Jane had barely said the word monster when the door to Hauntly Manor creaked open and heavy footsteps clomped onto the porch. Kilmer waved to his friends. "Come on over and meet my grandmother," he yelled.

"I hope you're wrong about Kilmer's grandmother," Annie said, "or we may be walking into a monster trap!"
