First there's the humming (like a million kazoos), then the light (eye-poppingly bright), and finally a bumping, whumping THUMP that shakes the whole neighborhood. But it's not till the fire hydrant actually speaks that Frank "the Shrank" Dunn gets the total picture.

And it's more than a little mind-boggling. The hydrant's really an alien, a shape-shifting policeman from the planet Rodinam! His name's Zymel, and he's on a mission—to find Fek, a crazed, power-hungry, alien master criminal.

It's up to Frank and his friends to help. But there's a problem. Both aliens can take any shape—from book to bicycle, squirrel to St. Bernard. How will they recognize the fiendish and fanatical Fek? And can they even be sure (gulp!) they're not the alien?
