Growing up with a vagabond mother had left its mark on Katherine Henry. All she wanted now was to stay put in familiar Washington, D.C., where her corporate job provided the security she craved. But everything changed the day Katherine was sent to Texas in search of Homer Ludlum, the elusive inventor of a fool proof armadillo trap.

Homer wasn't about to sell his invention, but he was only too happy to accompany the female executive back up north. After all, what red-blooded man wouldn't enjoy traveling cross-country with a beautiful woman? Besides, free-spirited Homer decided that the prim Miss Henry could use a few surprises in her well-ordered life -- not to mention some passionate kisses.
