Dory Faraday, 31, is an executive on the rise at an ultra-sophisticated New York women's magazine. But she decides to give it all up when Griff, the man she loves, asks her to live with him in Washington, D.C.

At first Dory throws herself into cooking, cleaning, baking, and decorating with the same energy that made her career a success. As the months pass, she thinks she's happy. But she keeps putting off the classes and writing she'd planned on and begins to wonder if she ran away with Griff because she was threatened by success.
