When a parka-clad angel materialized out of the dizzying snowstorm, Burnett-Clinton, long accustomed to champagne, discovered a powerful thirst for the milk of human kindness. Instinctively sensing that angelic Frannie Lawry would sooner boot Burnett's butt than rescue it, he impulsively cast aside his monied mantle and assumed the milder manner of "Ned St. Charles"--a man this angel would willingly warm by her heavenly fire....
