Ricky Ricotta's Mighty Robot Books in Order
About the Ricky Ricotta's Mighty Robot series
Series Premise
Ricky Ricotta is a lonely, timid little mouse who lives in Squeakyville. One day he befriends a giant robot that was created by an evil scientist to destroy the city. Ricky saves the robot from being used for evil, and the robot becomes his loyal best friend. From then on, Ricky and his Mighty Robot team up to battle a new evil villain in almost every book — usually a mad scientist who creates a giant monster or weapon to conquer the world. The villains include Dr. Stinky McNasty, Uncle Urkel, Professor Potato, General Jackrabbit, and others, each with increasingly ridiculous and dangerous creations (giant robots, mutant mosquitoes, radioactive hamsters, etc.). Ricky and the robot save the day through teamwork, courage, and cleverness (often with the robot doing the heavy lifting while Ricky comes up with the plan).
Main Characters
> Ricky Ricotta — Protagonist; small, timid, kind-hearted mouse boy. Often feels lonely and small until he befriends the robot; grows braver and more confident over the series.
> Mighty Robot — Ricky’s giant, silver robot best friend. Super strong, loyal, and protective; can fly, shoot lasers, and smash anything. Has a big heart and loves Ricky like a brother.
> Ricky’s parents — Loving, supportive mom and dad; often worried about Ricky’s adventures.
> Villains — Change each book; mad scientists with ridiculous names and giant evil creations (Dr. Stinky, Uncle Urkel, Professor Potato, etc.).
> Supporting friends — Various classmates and mice who appear occasionally; the robot is Ricky’s main ally.
Setting
The fictional town of Squeakyville (a mouse-sized world) and its surrounding areas. The scale is exaggerated for comedy: Ricky and his friends are tiny mice, while the Mighty Robot is a massive, city-destroying-sized robot. Settings include:
> Ricky’s house and neighborhood.
> Schools, playgrounds, and city streets (from a mouse’s-eye view).
> Villains’ secret labs, giant monster attack sites, and outer space (in later books).
The world is bright, cartoonish, and absurd — everyday places turned chaotic by giant monsters and evil scientists.
Tone & Themes
Silly, fun, fast-paced, and kid-friendly — classic Dav Pilkey humor with lots of toilet humor, gross-out jokes, over-the-top action, and exaggerated villainy. The tone is light-hearted, optimistic, and empowering — Ricky starts out scared and lonely but grows braver with each adventure, always learning that friendship and courage are the greatest superpowers. The books are packed with easy-to-read text, large print, colorful illustrations, flip-o-rama action pages, and plenty of laughs — designed to make reluctant readers excited about books.
The series is loved for its silly humor, easy-to-read format, colorful illustrations, flip-o-rama action pages, and positive messages about friendship and courage — perfect for reluctant readers and fans of Dav Pilkey’s other series (Dog Man, Captain Underpants). It’s a massive bestseller with strong read-aloud and classroom appeal.
