About This Book

The events portrayed in this novel are purely theoretical.
According to computer models studied at MIT, a hurricane of extreme magnitude could be generated above a lake or ocean whose temperature exceeds 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Scientists predict disastrous conditions, with winds approaching the speed of sound. Some theorize that such a hurricane, spawned by an asteroid impact, may have caused Earth's ice age.

Sometimes, theory becomes reality.

Antarctica. Deep below the frozen surface of the Ross Sea, a sub-glacial volcano erupts. Above it, a geothermal power plant faces certain destruction. Heading the disaster-relief team is USAF Colonel Tom Reed, who must use every technological tool at his disposal to keep environmental conditions under control. But as the waters heat up, a global disaster of apocalyptic proportions is brewing--a hurricane that could darken the skies and literally tear the earth apart. Between technology and nature, it's war. For Colonel Reed and his crew, it's a suicide mission.

The only solution is nuclear.

The greatest enemy is time.
