It looked like a nice town on the surface. But underneath its placid exterior was a cesspool of crime, politics, scandal, and vice. The one bright spot was Westwood, Dr. Gordon's private hospital. Dr. Gordon was a first-rate surgeon, and Tony McNeill ("Galahad" to his intimated) was proud to be chosen as his assistant. Tony had high ideals, and with youthful fervor threw himself into a campaign to rid the town of its cankerous growth. He found time, too, to fall in love. But his heart was torn between flamelike Marietta Ryan and quiet, repressed Caroline Taylor.
