Yesterday's Tomorrow

I t was just turning dusk when a thunderous explosion ignited the dark Wyoming sky to a cloud of radiant orange. The blast shattered trees, split rocks and pulverized the earth. Twenty-three year old Adam Bishop heard the detonation, saw the brilliance of the strike and felt the horrific force of the shockwave slamming his six-foot frame to the ground, but was unable to do anything about it. And now he lay motionless on a bed of moist ferns and wet grass with coffee tinted eyes squinting behind Buddy Holly type glasses cocked oddly on his face.Adam somehow grasped the presence of the Grim Reaper over him though was not frightened, but wondered if he would live until his August birthday. He silently accepted what fate had dealt, but was perplexed when the blackness of death simply turned away and disappeared without a backward glance.
