Yella's Prayers

A remarkable year of change and discovery awaits Bless Heggins, a shy, young African-American woman with a hidden gift. She wouldn't call herself a friend of the two very different young men who've frequented her home for the past four years, T'meal and Lamall--so why would God let Bless know that she will soon have to help both of them? Perhaps it's because T'meal strangely passes up the opportunity of a lifetime after high school, or maybe it has something to do with Lamall's personal world of girlfriends, crime, and family dysfunction that's whirling out of control. As Bless tries to determine what she should do about these young men, she ultimately has to confront her own deep-seated fears. It'll take both pain and healing for Bless to better learn what it means for her to fervently pray.
