Without a Trace

The portrait of a prominent businessman is destroyed with acid while on exhibition at the Union Gallery. Lucy, the artist who painted it, is kidnapped. The police show concern but don't seem too eager to investigate. That's when Detective Inspector George Washington gets a call for help from a friend of the missing artist. Although these crimes are not committed on his home turf he's keen to help. He soon learns some of the local police don't welcome his presence on their patch. He teams up with a journalist who has his own reasons for wanting to find Lucy. They run into many obstacles as George follows the clues, which he knows will lead him to the kidnapped artist. Or will they?
