A love-hate romance set in England and France against a mountaineering background. Tania Paget was devastated by the death of her brother James, in a mountaineering accident. She resented the fact that his climbing partner, the French Claude Girard, had survived the accident while her brother had not. He, whom she blames for all, was the last person who she wants to see, but he has an astonishing proposition of a job for her. When she reticent accepted to come to his chateau and write a book about their adventures, she was surprised at how quickly hate could turn to love. It is only when his life is endangered that she realises how much she cares about him.
