About This Book

The Witch Hunter combines one of the problems of the twentieth century with one of the age-old problems of mankind. It draws a connection between the 'missing children' and witchcraft. In the opening chapters, Jack Mitchell tracks down and encounters a witch he had known years before. He is horrified to discover that the woman is dealing in human sacrifices. In the course of his dealing with the witch, he manages to save a prospective sacrifice and later opens a gate to hell. At this gate, he attempts to rid himself of a demon that had plagued him for years. After returning to Wichita, Kansas, and the 'normal' life of a bank executive, one of his many contacts inform him of 'witchy' doings in Oklahoma. While he is planning on going to Oklahoma, it becomes apparent that a very dangerous witch is working the same bank as he. Jack travels to Oklahoma and deals with the coven there, though at the expense of severe injuries to himself. He had to maintain his image as a respectable banker. However, one of the secretaries, Denise, sees through his facade and quickly takes the lead in developing a romantic bond with the man. This bond infuriates the witch, who wants the beautiful Denise in her coven. She sees Jack as an unwanted threat to her desires. Laurie makes her final move and kidnaps Denise right out from under Jack and Jim. She makes it known that she plans on using Denise as a sacrifice for one of her three covens if Jack fails to save her. Laurie has lost her objectivity and looks at Jack as a menace that must be eliminated at all costs. In the rescue attempt and the resultant battles, Jack uses his Viet Nam experience to show the witches a new meaning of the word, death. He manages to give them numerous surprises, in spite of receiving a near-crippling injury.
