Winter's Day

Deserted by her fiancé and bereaved by a recent pit disaster, Jennifer determines to escape from memories of heartbreak; she accepts Julian Rothe's offer to develop her growing talent as an opera singer. It is not until later that she discovers the truth about her fiancé - that he was crippled during the rescue operation and that his desertion was really an act of self-sacrifice. At once, she returns to marry him. But the confines of marriage and village life are no match for the glamour of the career and love she has abandoned... or are they?
