As Gray Wolf hid his daughter away from male visitors to his tribe, one wealthy Indian named Baruk heard whispers of his daughter Willow. He investigated further to learn of Gray Wolf's motives to make a good arrangement for Willow to marry the right man. Taking the time, Baruk traveled to Gray Wolf's village, but stayed just outside the area so that he could spy on this special girl who had the reputation of extraordinary beauty. It did not take him long to be captivated by more than her natural beauty. He thought himself the only brave curious enough to spy on her, but soon discovered that he was not alone in the wilderness beyond the borders of her village. His jealousy caused him to chase away other suitors. He realized that an immediate deal for Willow would have to be arranged, so he sent his friend Golden Sky to negotiate with Gray Wolf. His trust in securing her as his bride, and creating a future with her, would continue to be tested as Willow's personality evolved beyond his expectations.
