About This Book

R.P. Gavin has a nice business chauffeuring the wealthy and criminal of Dallas and Fort Worth to their bars, illicit poker games, bingo matches, and anywhere else they want to go. When one of his clients bonks R.P. on the head and then ends up dead in the back seat of R.P.'s limo, R.P. decides it's time to take his career and his life a little more seriously. He takes up kempo fighting, gets a gun license, and has his Crown Victoria upgraded to serious bulletproof status. Which is enough reason for R.P.'s older brothers to hire him for a little detecting. A Texas billionaire has been accused of stealing from his own companies...and believes he may be under assassination threat. Through R.P.'s lawyer-brothers, the billionaire hires R.P. to investigate. R.P.'s investigation escalates past possible corporate theft into an international threat to revive the fascist movement. It also brings him into contact with the Dallas Police Department's sexiest female cop--who is investigating the billionaire from another angle. Behind the scenes, it seems that a pretty killer has her own ideas--and everyone makes sure R.P. knows that she, at least, is not to be harmed. As for him, well, Dallas could always find another chauffeur. Author Kenneth E. Ingle creates an engaging character in R.P. With his distant parents, two older brothers who don't know what to do with him, and a career that none of his upper-class family really approves of, R.P. believes he must go through life on his own (except for his ever-complaining cat). Even the waitresses give R.P. a hard time (and who can't identify with that?) Ingle does a nice job capturing the feel of the Dallas/Fort Worth area with its mix of wealth and crime and its connected but sometimes unfriendly cities. Readers looking for a thriller with an intriguing protagonist with attitude, a bit of romance that can't seem to go right, some rough fight scenes, and a multi-layered threat will definitely want to grab a copy of WHO KILLED THE KILLER.
