Until the day Nurse Lora Wincot met Doctor Colin Laystall she believed herself completely satisfied with her life.

For a brief time thereafter it seemed to Lora that she was being offered a happiness of which she had never dreamed, but very soon her rosy dreams were destined to fade, like morning mist before the sun.
