Retired cop Mack Durgin used to bust perpetrators in Massachusetts, but now he's widowed and living in Arizona. When a FedEx driver leaves an urn filled with his friend's ashes at his front door, Mack knows he must fulfill George Ashe's final wish. But Mack has no clue what else lies hidden within the urn. On his journey to spread Ashe's remains over the Grand Canyon, Mack encounters one oddball character after another-first Calliope Vrattos, a former waitress in a bar that holds Elvis impersonation contests-then Diet Cola, an ex-con and junk food addict who desperately wants what he buried in the urn. Cola hooks up with two loony housebreakers, a bald Elvis impersonator, and a dope head, and together they trace Mack to the little town of Pincushion, Arizona, where they all discover that pigs really do fly.
