About This Book

Human civilization was destroyed; almost. Global warming raised average air temperatures by twenty degrees and sea levels by two feet. Food production dropped dramatically and all major ports were under water. International commerce disappeared, and so did industrial civilization; almost. North central Canada was shielded from the global starvation, plagues and food wars by the Great Lakes, the Atlantic Ocean and the Arctic. Lead by Toronto, Montreal and other medium to large cities, they held together a regional government. When global warming stabilized, this government decided that they must try to re-build civilization, if they could. This new civilization would have a new set of values, and accepted code of behavior, which included habitat preservation as a leading consideration. Their first step would be to extend their presence and influence to what was once Canada and the northern section of the United States. But, all these areas were now under the control of city states, local war lords and roving bands of marauders. Canada had no effective army, and no one with experience beyond the local militia level, no one who knew how to create an army, and command it. Well, there is one possibility, a retired United states Army Commander, Colonel Gregor Timodai.
