Waking Up in Paradise is the first of the Cody Austin series. It takes place in the beautiful country of Belize where Cody Austin has moved with his grandparents. Cody, like many young people in this day and age has lived with his grandparents since he was a baby. His mother was killed in a horrific auto accident and Cody was severely injured.
It’s tough enough to be a teenager. Cody climbed a mountain of disabilities before they moved to Belize. To anyone he met now, he looked like a normal kid that was paraplegic. Cody was working on that. He would soon walk with the aid of science and hard work.
Cody ‘woke up’ when he was fourteen. At least that’s what everyone else thought. His grandmother knew better. Cody had always been there. He was observing, learning, feelingâ€"he just couldn’t communicate. Somehow, Carol Austin always knew. Thank God for stubborn grandmothers…
Cody and his folks build their paradise on an island that they purchased. They buy and eco lodge for an income and for once in their lives, everything seems right. They were home.
